Natural Crystals & Product Variations

Effective date: October 9, 2026

Every natural crystal and mineral carries evidence of how it formed. Learning to recognize those features makes selecting and caring for a specimen more rewarding—and helps distinguish natural character from damage or a listing problem. Mystic Minerals LLC, operating as Mystics, is based in Noblesville, Indiana; questions are welcome at Mystic@MysticsOnline.com or through our Contact page.

What Natural Variation Looks Like

Color may vary in hue, tone, saturation, zoning, or distribution. Clarity can range from transparent to opaque and may include veils, internal fractures, mineral inclusions, phantoms, or growth layers. A specimen may include host rock or matrix, druzy areas, contact points, textured surfaces, uneven bases, or changes in crystal shape and termination. These features can be scientifically meaningful and visually distinctive.

Polished stones and carvings also vary. The same design may reveal different banding, inclusions, grain, patches of matrix, polish depth, proportions, or placement of natural features. Hand finishing can add small differences in contour and detail.

Formation Features, Imperfections, and Repairs

A natural contact point, healed fracture, cleavage surface, growth interruption, pocket wear, or attached matrix is not necessarily recent damage. By contrast, a fresh chip, break, unstable repair, or other damage may require a different assessment. Listings should identify known repairs, treatments, enhancements, or notable imperfections when we know of them and they are material to the purchase.

Some minerals are routinely treated in the trade, and some treatments are difficult to identify without specialized testing. Mystics discloses known enhancements but does not represent that every specimen has received universal laboratory verification or is untreated unless its listing specifically supports that statement.

Exact Specimens and Representative Images

The product listing governs whether the photographs show the exact specimen you will receive or a representative item selected from a group. For an exact-specimen listing, the pictured item is the item offered, subject to ordinary differences in display. For a representative listing, the delivered piece will share the stated material and general product characteristics but will naturally differ from the example.

Lighting, camera processing, reflections, background, and screen settings can affect the appearance of color and contrast. Those ordinary visual differences do not excuse a material misdescription. We aim for photographs and written descriptions that together give a fair account of the product.

Measurements and Weight

Measurements and weights described as approximate are taken in good faith and may reflect rounding, irregular outlines, the point selected for measurement, or normal scale variation. There is no single percentage tolerance that fairly fits every specimen. If a particular dimension or weight is important to your intended use, contact us before ordering and we will help clarify the listing.

Handling and Display

Handle minerals over a stable, protected surface. Points, clusters, cleavage-prone pieces, thin carvings, and specimens on matrix may be fragile even when they appear substantial. Use a secure stand where appropriate, avoid unstable shelves and vibration, and do not lift a specimen by a point, attached crystal, or delicate matrix.

Water, salt, household chemicals, cleaners, direct sunlight, rapid temperature change, and heat can discolor, dissolve, pit, crack, fade, or otherwise damage some minerals. Use a soft dry cloth only where that is safe for the surface and material, and avoid soaking or chemical cleaning until you know the material is suitable. Leave friable, powdery, or potentially hazardous minerals undisturbed and ask Mystics for specimen-specific guidance before cleaning or display.

Mineral Safety

Not every mineral is harmless in every form. Wash your hands after handling specimens that may shed residue and before eating. Avoid creating or inhaling mineral dust, and do not cut, grind, dissolve, burn, or ingest a specimen. Do not use crystals or minerals to make elixirs, place unknown minerals directly in food or drinking water, or assume that a polished surface makes a material food-safe.

Some specimens have sharp edges, points, loose fragments, or small parts. Store them securely away from young children and pets. General guidance cannot identify every hazard for every mineral, coating, inclusion, or treatment, so research the specific material and seek qualified advice where exposure or use raises a concern.

Spiritual and Traditional Associations

Mystics may describe historical, spiritual, cultural, or traditional associations for crystals and other goods. These descriptions are offered for personal reflection and educational interest. They are not claims of medical efficacy and are not a substitute for diagnosis, treatment, or advice from a qualified medical, mental-health, legal, or other professional.

When Something Is Not as Described

Natural variation does not excuse receiving the wrong item, undisclosed damage, or a product that is materially inconsistent with its listing. If that happens, retain the item and packaging and contact us. Our Returns & Refunds Policy explains the available process and remedies. You may also reach us through our Contact page.
